Michael W. Martin
Clinical Professor of Law & Faculty Director, Ireland Program Fordham University School of Law
Professor Martin is a Clinical Professor of Law at Fordham University School of Law and served as Associate Dean for Experiential Education from 2019-2024, as well as Director of Clinical Legal Education from 2016-2024. Since 2006, he has been the Faculty Director of the Law School's summer program collaboration with Queens University Belfast (QUB) and the University College of Dublin (UCD), where he is also a Visiting Professor of Law. Professor Martin has served as a legal expert on international criminal law issues for the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations since 2016. He is a co-author of Trial Practice 2d ed. (Lexis Nexis) and a 2024 addition to the Irish Legal 100.
Professor Martin teaches the Federal Litigation Clinic and Seminar, International Human Rights and Resolving Conflict in Northern Ireland, and International Criminal Law. He has also taught International Human Rights, Fundamental Lawyering Skills, Judicial Externships, the Justice and Welfare Clinic, and the Family Advocacy Clinic.
Prior to joining the faculty at Fordham, Professor Martin taught the Federal Litigation Clinic and Seminar at Brooklyn Law School (1998 - 1999) and was an associate at Sullivan & Cromwell (1994 - 1998). He also served as Sullivan & Cromwell’s Pro Bono Fellow, exclusively prosecuting prisoner civil rights actions in the Southern District of New York from 1994 to 1995. Professor Martin clerked for the Hon. John F. Keenan, United States District Judge for the Southern District of New York, from 1992 to 1994.
