Anne Anderson

Former Ambassador of Ireland to the United States

Anne Anderson is a former Irish diplomat and graduate of University College Dublin and King's Inns. She served as Ireland's first female Ambassador to the United States from 2013 to 2017, having previously served as Ireland's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York from 2009 to 2013, giving her a deep understanding of the Irish-American relationship and landscape.

 

Over the course of her career, she also served as Ireland's Ambassador to the EU, France, and Monaco, and chaired the UN Commission on Human Rights. Since leaving the Department of Foreign Affairs, she has served on the advisory board of Georgetown University's Institute for the Study of Diplomacy, on the board of Smurfit Kappa, and has authored Thinking With My Pen: Speeches from a Life in Diplomacy.
